With an amazing amount of digital content available online and the quality of smartphone cameras continually upgrading, it's never been easier for documentarians to craft compelling and relevant films. These high quality cameras allow for filming in situations that may otherwise have been considered inaccessible, and it can arguably be said that this new unrestricted access to digital content from music to graphics and everything in-between has further opened the doors of human communication and creativity.

However, as with any technological advancements that seemingly makes life easier, it also raises questions concerning the ownership rights, usage and ethics of crafting, consuming and producing documentary films in a digital landscape. Digital Documentarians: What You Need to Know offers the views and opinions of a variety of filmmakers and legal experts on some of the better practices concerning those digitally grey issues including, fair use, music copyrights and filming locations
